This is the entry training for Collaborative Law. It is essential Collaborative Law training and perfect for those newly embarking on Collaborative Law, or those who wish to get a refresher or update. At this exciting training, you will learn:
- Skills and procedures for handling a Collaborative case from beginning to end, including a full step-by-step manual, checklists, and helpful forms.
- The roles and function of Collaborative team members, including the lawyer, financial specialist, coach and child specialist.
- An introduction to interest-based negotiations, facilitation and other skills to bring a collaborative case to successful conclusion.
- Stages of the Collaborative Law process.
- The psychological dynamics of a marital dissolution and how they impact your work.
- Ethics and ethical issues that face the Collaborative professional.
- How to develop a successful Collaborative practice.
- Essential skills and techniques needed to take your Collaborative Law practice to the next level.
- Step-by-step instruction to help you work more effectively in the Collaborative Law model and to help you facilitate and manage the negotiation of durable agreements using a client-centered process.
- How to successfully navigate through some of the problems for Collaborative Law practitioners.
- Learn some dispute resolution skills for a Collaborative Law.
This skills-focused training is taught by an interdisciplinary Collaborative team (lawyers, coach, and financial specialist), and includes demonstrations and hands-on practice.
To help you get through your first cases, all attendees receive a comprehensive manual on Collaborative Practice and a CD that contains valuable checklists, forms, handouts, and articles.
This course fulfills the 12-hour Basic Collaborative Law training requirements of local Collaborative Law organizations, and complies with training standards of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Credits: 13.00 CLE credits (incl. 1.0 ethics) approved. Approved for 6.5 CEUs (provider #1975-272) for Psychologists, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors by the National Association of Social Workers through Collaborative Professionals of Washington
