This Collaborative Law training is taught by an experienced interdisciplinary team, and perfect for those newly embarking on Collaborative Law or those who wish to get a refresher or update. At this exciting training, you will learn:
- Skills and procedures for handling a Collaborative case from beginning to end.
- Stages of the Collaborative Law process.
- The roles and function of Collaborative team members, including the lawyer, financial specialist, coach and child specialist.
- Insights to help you work more effectively in the Collaborative Law model, and to help you facilitate negotiations of durable agreements using a consensual client-centered process.
- How to successfully navigate through some of the problems facing Collaborative Law practitioners.
- An introduction to interest-based negotiations, facilitation and other skills to bring a collaborative case to successful conclusion.
- The psychological dynamics of conflict and marital dissolution and how they impact your work.
- Ethics and ethical issues that face the Collaborative professional.
- How to develop a successful Collaborative practice.
All attendees receive a comprehensive manual on Collaborative Practice and a CD that contains valuable checklists, forms, handouts, and articles. This skills-focused training is taught by an interdisciplinary Collaborative team (lawyers, coach, and financial specialist), and includes demonstrations and hands-on practice.
What Makes This Training Different. This two-day training is taught by a nationally-recognized training team. The trainers have extensive experience with actual cases and in conducting trainings. Their unique curriculum is interesting, interactive, and based on adult learning principles. The trainers practice Collaborative Law nearly every work day.
This training meets the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Minimum Standards for a Collaborative Basic Training, which is a requirement for membership in many local Collaborative Law organizations.

Credits: 12.25 CLE credits (incl. 0.5 ethics) pending. Approved for 6.5 CEUs (provider #1975-272) for Psychologists, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors by the National Association of Social Workers through Collaborative Professionals of Washington
